AP Gas & Electric (APG&E) is a retail electric provider serving residential and commercial customers in 23 utility service areas in seven states. Based in Houston, Texas, AP Gas & Electric has been serving retail electric customers since 2004. Their services are available to customers in select utilities in Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, and Illinois.
For residential customers, AP Gas & Electric offers a basic fixed rate plan for a term of 12 months. They also offer prepaid electric service through their affiliate Zip Energy. Zip Energy offers traditional variable rate prepaid plans as well as a prepaid plan that locks in a fixed rate for 12 months. These plans require the customer to have smart meter. AP Gas & Electric has a streamlined business model that focuses on “high-touch/low-friction.” In other words, it is very easy to interface with them as your retail electric supplier.
AP Gas & Electric prefers customers to enroll in electronic billing but will send a traditional paper bill if the customer prefers them to do so. Customers that opt to receive paper bills still receive an electronic bill statement as a courtesy. APG&E operates a customer call center Monday thru Thursday from 8 am to 7 pm, Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
APG&E customers also have the ability to manage their account using an online portal. This portal allows customers to review balances, make payments, review payment history, enroll in auto-pay, review their usage, and register multiple APG&E billing accounts to one login. The portal is a one-stop shop for customers to manage all aspects of their account.
APG&E offers a variety of products for commercial and industrial customers to assist in managing electricity price risk. Fixed and index products can be structured to meet the risk profile and operational needs of commercial and industrial electricity customers. Outside of Texas, fixed and index products are offered that meet local utility rate ready/bill ready requirements. AP Gas & Electric offers dual billing at the customer’s request or for products that cannot be billed through the local utility.
