TXU Energy is a retail electric provider serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers in those areas of Texas open to retail electric competition. TXU serves more than 1.7 million customers, which is more than any other retailer in the state. TXU is part of Energy Future Holdings, the successor company to the TXU regulated utility. As one of the largest and most established Texas retail electric providers, the depth and breadth of their customer offerings is extensive.
TXU offers residential customers a number of plans from which to choose. There are traditional fixed price plans with terms of 12 and 24 months. TXU also offers versions of these plans with 100% renewable energy content. E-commerce versions of these plans feature electronic document delivery and auto-pay. More creative product offerings for residential customers include electricity rates tied to natural gas prices, month-to-month plans, pay-as-you-go plans, cash back rewards plans, and time-of-use plans that incentivize usage during non-peak hours.
Residential customers also have access to a number of services and plan enhancements. The TXU Energy MyEnergy Dashboard is free and provides online access to see how and when the customer uses electricity. There are also tools and questionnaires that help TXU customers identify home energy efficiency improvements as well as appliances that are using energy even when they are turned off. TXU promotes the iThermostat, which allows customers to program and manage their home’s temperature using an online interface. TXU customers also have access to several warranty programs for their home including a heating and cooling system warranty, a surge protection warranty, and a comprehensive warranty for the customer’s heating and cooling system, other major electrical appliances, and the plumbing system.
TXU Energy offers commercial and industrial customers a wide rand of flexible plans and value-added services. Small business customers can select from most of the same plans as residential customers with the difference being that some plans offer terms up to a 36-months. Larger commercial and industrial customers have an even wider array of customized products and terms available. TXU maintains an account management team that is available to work with customers to identify the electricity plan that best meets their individual needs and risk tolerance. TXU offers specific plans and programs tailored to the construction and property management sectors.
TXU Energy maintains a 24/7 customer care call center. They also have online chat and an extensive FAQ resource on their website. TXU Energy provides online account management that is also available in mobile app version. There are multiple ways for electric customers to pay their bills including online, by phone, by mail, and in person at almost 4000 contracted payment locations.
TXU Energy supports numerous community charitable causes. One of its most notable causes is TXU Aid. TXU created this bill-payment assistance program more than 30 years ago and it has grown to become the largest program among electricity providers in the nation. More than $84 million has been provided to assist more than 455,000 customers pay their electric bills. The program combines voluntary customer contributions and TXU employee contributions to provide assistance for families through selected social service agencies.

I had always heard good things about TXU, so I used them while I was renting.When I called to cancel my account (after... a year of being with them) I was told they would draft one last payment. They never drafted it and never notified me at all. No calls, texts, mail or email. They say that they emailed me, but it is not in my spam or inbox.They also told me they would mail me a receipt 2 months ago and I never received it. I had to call and ask again, but still have not received it (They verify my address every time).They reported the payment that they never drafted to collections and messed up my credit. When I called customer service they were not helpful at all and did not understand what I needed. They transferred me to a lot of different representatives and even the supervisor. They had me call three different numbers and no one could help. I sent them a letter and never heard back.I paid the final bill as soon as I saw it on my credit report (Which was the first time I knew it was not drafted) and they refuse to have it removed from my credit.All of my payments were automatically drafted every month, I never missed a payment. I was completely fine with them drafting the final bill, but they never did.I cannot believe that they refuse to fix this after they did not notify me that the bill was not paid.I will never use TXU energy again. We've been with TXU for almost 8 years. Each year rates have constantly gone up and the excuse is BS each year. I... shopped around this year a month before my plan expired and found 5 companies that were beating the outrageous rate TXU was trying to charge me. You would hope that loyal customers would get the best possible rate but unfortunately that's not the case. Upon learning I was switching TXU CS called me 3 times within 2 hours trying to save the account. To top it off, my usage this month was a little less that last month, but somehow my last bill was $60 more than last month. I would give 0 stars for how the final bill played out and -1 stars for customer retention as TXU has come up with constant excuses for yearly bill increases. Oh yea, my bill this month is less than half the cost of my bill last year with more KW usage. Thanks TXU for the unethical business that I've received for being a loyal customer for almost 8 years. And BTW your aggressive retention agents need to go through training again as they are rude and short. I will never buy power from TXU again even if they offer 6 months for free!!!!!read more

It was a pleasant experience and most importantly I did get a payment arrangement we could handle. We've been with TXU many years and probably will be for years to come! We've tried other companies off and on but it's just not the same. We came back the couple times we left to try to see if something else was better, it wasn't! The ways you have to work with customers who get a high bill and can't pay right now is one of the best things about TXU and we've had to use this feature plenty! I will no longer do business with TXU. Their prices are outrageous! Four of us in one house and our bill monthly was... $580+. Switched companies and for the same kwh usage I am now paying $269 a month. And TXU can't beat that cause we all know giant corporations only care for the money that will line their pockets. Also, be sure to add all members of your household as users. Cause if one passes away, like my uncle did leaving my aunt in this situation, they will NOT give you access to the account. Yeah yeah security for a dead man. Even if you have the proper paperwork showing the main account owner has passed you will go through 15 loops. Hopefully your electric isn't off by then so you won't be charged the outrageous reconnect fees and such. If you choose to do business with them just beware. Hopefully your experience is much better than mine has been over the last 8 years. Judging by the other reviews, it would seem others have had better. So it's just not the company for me. I will give them kudos though, their representatives are respectful and courteous. They did try their best to help.read more

I am currently short of money because Congress haven't passed the Extension unemployment benefit and President Trump... have signed executive order of $400 for unemployment people not yet having being coming. I then chat with TXU Energy asking for a Deferred Payment to the next several months, they are easily grant it to me the new plan without any hassle. They told me they could provide me power. I paid them a deposit with the last of my money. Then they told me that they... can't actually provide me power, and will send me my deposit as a check in the mail. They claim they are unable to do it electronically. What??? This is 2020!
