Fortunately, this break between the cooling and heating seasons leads to lower energy bills for most of us. It can also mean that home energy efficiency is not at the top of our list of things to think about.

The best part I like is this: The reliability and availability of modern energy sources cause people to tend to assume that it will always be accessible. And as for the case of non-renewable energy sources, most people do not know or maybe even refuse to accept that it will eventually run out.

  4. I would have never thought about checking my home’s insulation levels. It is good to know that a low level of insulation in your home can make your electric bill go up. I just bought my first home and I don’t really want to pay to much for my power. I guess I should take a look in my attic.

  6. Thanks for these tips! Last fall, after comparing the numbers, I think we lost money to wasted energy. I think I want to get an energy audit done, but I don’t know what to look for in a service. In the mean time, I will make sure to use some of these tips, especially get that dust off my fan!
