very disappointed. I initially was going to get service with this company but the unit I was renting wasn't ready in... time for me and my son so I had to cancel. I told them that I would be moving somewhere else to go ahead and cancel the service. The refund was supposed to go to my card they said 1 week so, I waited... never got it so I reached out again they told me to wait 2 more weeks they had to start it over I again asked where the refund would be sent because I did not live at the service address and explained the situation to them as to why. come to find out I'm now having to wait another 20 days because they mailed a check after I stated I wanted it on my card because I didn't live there. None of these Retail Electric Providers are clear on the solar program they offer. I was considering going with solar... panels on my roof and the question that stopped the whole thing was " do you do 1 for 1 Kwh swap on my over generation? ".The proposed system would overgenerate during the day and I could draw down credits at night resulting in me buying about 500Kwh every month instead of 1700.The problem is they want to buy my electric for cheap and because I have solar sell me electric at inflated prices. This results in the 500Kwh costing very close to what I pay for 1700 AND I get to pay out of pocket for the panels on top of that.The best plan would be for me to put up the panels out of pocket, not sell any power back and get the lowest price I can for each Kwh ( currently 8.6 cents ) or get a huge battery pack and a free nights plan, recharge the pack at night and run off it during the day.It's a huge advantage for them to have me generate power into the local grid above my use, if enough people did it they could really cut back and the grid would be more stable because of micro generation in each area.We need clear pricing and clear information before leaping into solar and commitment to a product for 20 plus years.read more

Quietly charging much higher rates. Since we were on average billing - it was not immediately obviousWorst of all, when exploring plans with them to renew the plans they offered new customers were approximately 30%+ cheaper than what existing customers were allowed to sign up for. It is appalling that they do not value their existing customers. RIDICULOUS...Relant provided back then a new meter which did not require a person to physically access my meter and read it...the "drive by" reading and meter was great...the savings and huge difference in rates was immediate...since then I joined their cost usage plan which averages my payments so that the times of high usage costs are spread out with roughly equal monthly payments..no shocking costs during peak summer or winter use. I also joined their weekly email usage report which allows me to see how much energy I used currently plus what I used the week before. I noticed over the last couple years that my bill was getting higher and higher. I've been consistently paying over... $300 sometimes over four for the past two years. I thought it could have been because of my switch to average billing, combined with a faulty air conditioning unit. Tonight I had the pressure of chatting with Juan. L about my bill that is due tomorrow and monthly bills for the coming... up months not only was he completely respectful of what I'm dealing with at the moment and didn't make me feel like I was just looking for someone to feel sorry and pity me and he also took the time to answer each of my questions I asked of him and explain each answer to me and he treated me like a person, he wasn't just someone doing there job for there pay check on the other end of the line, he took it on his own to find out if there was anything else that might help me or even save me some money and he did he found a saving of $600 over the coming up months. Update 8/20/20- After being a loyal customer for over 15 years, I’m extremely disappointed with reliant! I am moving... out of the state so had to cancel my service as I am unable to move service to the new location. I had issues with the day it was disconnected...right in the middle of my move. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a mistake on my part requesting 8/17 instead of 8/18 so I called on 8/17 and asked that they email me a transcript of the chat I where the request was made. They said it would take 24 hours. I spoke to 3 different people including a manager but as of today, I still haven’t gotten the transcript. I called again and the representative I spoke with today put me on hold for 14 minutes! She said there was no request for the transcript noted or sent. She again submitted a request and I have to wait another 24 hours. Their customer service is terrible! I’ll never recommend anyone else with them again.I've had Reliant for over 5 years and have never had issues with them! Their prices are pretty good and their customer service is excellent. I was just minding my own business shopping at a local Walmart, and a friendly Reliant salesman approached me & asked... how much I spent a month on energy? I stated too much! He said, "When you're done shopping come, and see me." I liked that he gave me a moment to do a little more shopping before stopping to talk to him. UPDATE:Set up with the rep wasn’t great but the service since and my bill thus far.. the app... everything has been... great. I will be staying with Reliant as long as I live in Texas!I’ve heard great things about this company and just got set up today. The rep I had didn’t give a good first impression.. he spoke down to me, he repeatedly sent emails to the wrong address, refused to update my number and had an attitude the entire call. I hope I never have to call customer service again... but let’s see how my bill looks.. then I might revise this accordingly.read more
