Corporate Offices: 2330 Gravel Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76118
Payless Power is a retail electric provider serving most Texas deregulated electricity markets. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Payless Power is a trade name for Young Energy. Payless Power focuses on providing prepaid electric service to Texas residential customers. Payless Power is a certified member of the Better Business Bureau and maintains an A+ rating with that organization.
Although Payless Power has stated intentions of offering commercial electric service, they only serve residential customers at this time. Similarly, Payless Power is developing postpaid electric plans but currently offers only prepaid electric service. This specialization allows the company to focus its marketing and operations efforts and excel at serving the residential prepaid electricity market.
Payless Power offers its SmarTricity True Value electric rate plan. They also offer a variation of this plan that includes a promotional monthly credit. The SmarTricity True Value plan operates similar to a reloadable calling card or prepaid cell phone. A customer is required to have a smart meter and access to email or a text-enabled cell phone. The customer establishes an opening balance for their account. Then will receive daily email and/or text message from Payless Power detailing how much money is in their account, daily energy consumption rate, and how many days of service remain before the account is needs to be replenished.
The customer can replenish their account online, by phone, or in person at a MoneyGram pay station (including Wal-Mart, CVS, and many other locations). Payless Power only accepts cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, debt cards or credit cards. Personal checks are not accepted. The customer also receives a monthly Statement if Usage and Payment. This provides the customer with a transparent overview of usage, billing, and payments for the prior month.
Payless Power’s SmarTricity True Value plan operates as a variable rate electricity product. There is no term, no credit check, or ID check required to establish service. While it may seem unusual for a retail electric provider to essentially offer only a single plan, this is a highly specialized plan and Payless Power has established itself as leader for Texas prepaid electricity. For customers with poor credit, bad credit, or similar issues, prepaid electric service is an ideal way to get affordable electricity for their home.
Payless Power serves customers in the Oncor, Centerpoint, AEP Texas Central (CPL), and AEP Texas North (WTU) areas. Payless Power maintains a U.S.-based customer call center. The call center is available for customers Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.
